This mountainous area provides the bulk of the wild walks on the island. So, all those who want to get even more intimate with the nature in a more energetic and adrenaline-packed style, the Mountain Biking at Maccabee Forest is the ideal activity!

This 4 hours Mountain Biking involves roughing up around 30km of the South West Region including the protected area of Maccabee Forest Reserve. All mountain bikes will be provided to you with highest safety and this nature discovery trip can be enjoyed as from 16 years old. As the tracks are quite rough and mountainous, this adventurous bike ride requires biking experience and a good fitness level. And of course, you will be accompanied by a knowledgeable and expert guide who will stop on the way and share exciting stories as well as facts about the surroundings, gradually rousing your inner nature wild side.

Upon your arrival at your departure point- the town of Curepipe, you will meet your guide of the day who will brief you on the safety measures for a successful mountain biking and on the adventure that you will be having. For your safety, you will also be provided with helmets, spare tubes and pumps, professional lycra gloves and 1 pair of speed pedals- all for your comfort!

Once the briefing is done, put on your helmet and be ready to enjoy this exciting mountain biking! You will start your adventure on the road with a short warm up session, then cross over some single tracks to join a main road.

Moving forward, you will enter the forest trails and then onto Mare aux Vacoas lake. Here, if you crave for some more twists and turns, you will get the opportunity to take up some technical trails along Plaine Sophie and join the National Park along the Maccabee Ridge with some spectacular views. Treat yourself to a little brake and discover the national bird of Mauritius such as the echo parakeet, pink pigeon, kestrel and more which can be spotted here.
The trail continues further around the Mare Longue lake and down to the Tamarind Falls with glimpses onto the cascades. The path will provide a spell binding view to the nature lovers. Located amidst thick green bushes and trees, the snow-white waters flowing over the cascade make the entire scene really hypnotic.

As you reach near the end of your track, it is easier to handle the bike and this is where you would not want the adventure to stop! Turning back at this point for a glimpse of what you have just experience will be a sense of accomplishment, satisfaction and great pleasure! Finally, the tour takes its end back to the Bus Terminal.

Sports shoes or mountain-bike shoes with your clip pedals and socks are highly recommended, Camera, Towel, Spare clothes, Sun block creams/lotions in case it is too sunny, Mosquito repellent & Rain jacket

Cancellation Policy

  • 10% of the total amount will be charged after the booking (Confirmation) towards the processing fee.
  • 30% of the total amount will be charged will be charged, if cancelled between 15-30 days.
  • 50% of the total amount will be charged, if cancelled between 15-6 days.
  • Full cancellation if the tour is cancelled within 6 days of the tour.
  • No refund is possible for a last minute cancellation or no-show on the day of the tour itself.
